Work & Projects
Ashley Rice is a multidisciplinary artist. She is the author and illustrator of several empowering books for tween girls. She has worked with buemountain.com and Vergara y Riba Editorias.
At AG Interactive (American Greetings) she began working on animated e-cards. It was her first time doing art for the internet. It was also during the dot-com boom. This sparked her interest in digital design. Then later, it led her to learn computer coding.
Today, she writes interactive educational video games for Starfall Education Foundation. Starfall teaches kids reading and math through web-based games and mobile apps.
Background
Ashley Rice is the creator of many popular greeting cards, poems, and books.
She was born in Houston, Texas, but grew up in Dallas.
Both sides of her family are from Arkansas. She has lived many places, but is still trying to figure it all out.
"I worked as a greeting card designer since I was 21. But I did not ever brand anything or have ads. Everything sold a hundred percent by word of mouth, by people who bought it. But that was a long time ago. I am learning stuff all over again now.
The best advice anyone ever gave me in regards to all of this was another greeting card designer who I called up a few years ago. She said, “Get a job. For right now, this is not working. You can come back to it.” So I did.
I design things when I can and on my own time just because I want to. I am not selling things on this site right now, I am starting by writing things, posting things, and seeing where it grows.
I do not know if I will ever make a living at it again because many things have happened and many things are different! As you know, things keep changing every day. Thanks for stopping by! ✨And have a great one.
